Enrique Herrera Oria, S.J.

"I met him for the first time on the occasion of the founding of F.A.E. Since then I had very close contact with Fr. Poveda. Pious, simple, humble, with a deep knowledge of Spanish education problems, great zeal and tact in taking action.

He was my best friend. We had long meetings, at times in the premises of F.A.E. (Manuel Silvela, 7 or Claudio Coello) and others in his modest home on Alameda Street. After our conversations I always came out encouraged. But the sanctity of Father Poveda glowed in his resolute support of any particular work of God, particularly any educational work, regardless of whose initiative it was."
