San Antonio de los Alemanes Church, Madrid, Spain

Corredera Baja de San Pablo Street # 16, Madrid. The “Holy, Pontifical and Royal Fraternity of Refuge and Piety of Madrid”, dedicated to works of charity since its foundation in the XVII century.  Blessed Pedro Poveda belonged to this Fraternity since 1930 until his death in 1936.  In this Fraternity, every year since 1993, on the day of his Beatification, October 10th, the Eucharist is celebrated in honor of St. Pedro Poveda. The Eucharist is presided by an oil painting of Poveda and one of his relics, both property of the Fraternity.



Headquarters of the Teresian Association in Madrid, Spain. Príncipe de Vergara Street, 88.

“Pedro Poveda Oratory” (1994), located next to the Chapel of the head quarters. Here is venerated the scapular of Our Lady of Mount Carmel which he was wearing on the day of his martyrdom.  The scapular was soaked in his blood and it also shows the holes of the bullets that took his life.

The figure of St. Pedro Poveda appears, among other saint-devotees of Saint Teresa of Jesus, in a painting, by Pancho Cossio (1956), located on the left of the transept.



Basilica of Santa Maria, Covadonga, Spain.

In this Basilica, in 1997, Archbishop Gabino Díaz Merchán solemnly placed a relic of Blessed Pedro Poveda in a chest under the high altar. This altar also contains the relics of Saint Athanasius, Saint Basil, and Saint Melchor of Quirós, the patron-saint of the Diocese.



Guadix, Spain. A portrait of St. Pedro Poveda is venerated in the following Temples:

Cathedral Church. On October 10th, 1996, an oil painting, the work of A. Castellanos, was placed in the Chapel dedicated to Saint Teresa during the times of Poveda.  The painting is inspired in a photo by Kaulak and was previously at the Pedro Poveda High School and later on donated to the Cathedral.

Santiago Parish Church

Likewise, Pedro Poveda is venerated in the Chapel of the Residence of the Association in Guadix, where we can also see the rosary that Pedro Poveda had with him at the time of his martyrdom. The General Directress, Arantxa Aguado, took it to Guadix with the desire that it be venerated in the Church of the Caves.
